Hymn of the Day

(tune: "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee"p.38)

By God’s grand predestination

    Which, of course, He must fulfill,

    He has given saints possession

    Of the things writ in His will.

    Jews who were Christ’s first disciples

    To His praise and glory are;

    Gentiles who were once their rivals

    Now are coming from afar.

These have heard the proclamation

    Of the Truth all should receive;

   ’Tis the gospel of salvation;

    Having heard, they did believe.

    They are sealed with God’s own Spirit,

    14 Who is now the guarantee

    Of the things they did inherit –

    Praise our God eternally!

Congratulations to Karsten and Morgan Marker on the birth of a daughter, Blakely Kay on Monday, October 24, 2022! This congratulations extends to a large clan in our church, for beginning with Ann Vlastuin, Blakely is the fifth generation of that family in our congregation: Ann – John – Amy – Morgan – Blakely. We thank our God for Blakely’s healthy birth and pray that God’s grace be upon her.

The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad;

let the distant shores rejoice!

(Psalm 97.1)

We may mourn as our culture slides into ever-more depths of depravity. But the rebellion of men and women has not altered the purpose of God in the least, in fact, it is aprt and parcel of the fulfillment of it!. Nor has this rebellion deprived our Lord of the least of His power and authority. Christ is enthroned at the Father’s right hand and all His people are safe and secure in Him!   -Joe

Make no mistake, dear friends, the wrath of God is soon to come and only those who are found in Christ will be spared, but all those outside of Christ will be given over to hell where there is no escape.  –Jesse Bates

And even to your old age I am he;

and even to gray hairs will I carry you:

I have made, and I will bear;

even I will carry, and will deliver you.

-Isaiah 46:4

The year is very old, and here is a promise for our aged friends; yes, and for us all, as age creeps over us. Let us live long enough, and we shall all have [gray] hairs; therefore we may as well enjoy this promise by the foresight of faith.

When we grow old our God will still be the I AM, abiding evermore the same. [Gray] hairs tell of our decay, but He decayeth not. When we cannot carry a burden and can hardly carry ourselves, the Lord will carry us. Even as in our young days He carried us like lambs in His bosom, so will He in our years of infirmity.

He made us, and He will care for us. When we become a burden to our friends and a burden to ourselves, the Lord will not shake us off, but the rather He will take us up and carry and deliver us more fully than ever. In many cases the Lord gives His servants a long and calm evening. They worked hard all day and wore themselves out in their Master’s service, and so He said to them, “Now rest in anticipation of that eternal Sabbath which I have prepared for you.” Let us not dread old age. Let us grow old graciously since the Lord Himself is with us in fullness of grace.  -Charles Spurgeon

Men have spent countless hours writing out creeds and confessions, pages after pages of thick documents, with long run on sentences hard to be understood.  But never has there been a more concise and perfect declaration of the gospel of God than this one sentence our Lord Jesus spoke—"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  -Clay Curtis

Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;

though lofty, he sees them from afar.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life.

You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;

with your right hand you save me.

The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever;

do not abandon the works of your hands.

~Psalm 138.6-8

No revealed truth is more generally doubted and disbelieved than this, the plainest of all revelations, that the Lord is gracious and full of compassion, and ready to pass by the iniquities of his people. -Charles H. Spurgeon

The disease of fear came into man’s heart because with sin. Adam was never afraid of his God till he had broken His command. -Charles H. Spurgeon
