And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter.
And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had
said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Me thrice.
And Peter went out and wept bitterly. -Luke 22:61-62
The truth of Peter's denial of the Lord is recorded in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. But in Luke's account, there is something concerning the Lord's reaction toward Peter and Peter's immediate response after his denial that especially grips my heart. The word declares, "And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter and Peter remembered the word of the Lord."
Here we are taught that the Lord beholds and knows us, His people, "He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust." But how painful it is when we're allowed to behold that truth within ourselves. One look from the Lord he denied three times broke Peter's heart, for that look was not a look of condemnation, which surely would be deserved, but rather was a look of mercy and compassion from Him who came into this world to save His people from their sins … and with that look, "Peter went out, and wept bitterly." -Marvin Stalnaker

Now we know that what things soever the law saith,
it saith to them who are under the law:
that every mouth may be stopped,
and all the world may become guilty before God.

They (His disciples) are not of the world,
even as I am not of the world. ~John 17.16
…for ye are not under the law, but under grace. -Romans 6.14
The Law speaks to those who are under its jurisdiction. Just as the law of any country speaks only to the occupants and citizenry of that country, so the Law of Sinai speaks only to those who are citizens of its domain. The domain of the Law is the world. Its jurisdiction extends to every person who is a citizen of this world, and its message to them is that they are guilty before the God who said, "I will by no means clear the guilty."
But God's people are not of this world: they have been chosen, redeemed, and called out of it. By virtue of the gracious actions of the God who gave the Law, the Law has nothing to say to them – they are outside its jurisdiction. The Law speaks to them that are under the law, and they are not under the Law. They have no quarrel with the Law, and blessed be the name of God, the Law has no quarrel with them! Those who subject themselves to the Law make themselves to be citizens of a world destined to perish, and they will perish with it, the condemning voice of the Law ringing in their ears, "By the deeds of the Law shall no flesh be justified in His sight." But those who, by the grace of God, have been justified by the blood of Christ through faith shall never perish and shall never be condemned, for the condemning Law has no jurisdiction over them. -Joe

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end. -Jeremiah 29:11
Do you know what that expected end is, mentioned in Jeremiah beloved? The answer is found in Jude chapter 1 verse 24— "Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy." Our Lord finished the work of our salvation, and in the covenant of God's eternal grace, we have always been in His view and His joy, that of presenting us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy! Beloved look unto JESUS the author and finisher of our faith! The Alpha and the Omega of our salvation, Christ Jesus the Lord who, "for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2).
He has you and me in view beloved! We are the joy set before Him; that glorious day when He will give us - all of His beloved people - an expected end. And He condescends to tells us what it is beloved, that, "whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:15) AMEN! -Joseph Murphy
